Sharing your data with colleagues in Lancaster and other institutions

Thanks to Graeme Hughes, Head of Faculty IT, ISS for his informative session on the new and existing ways to share data with colleagues at Lancaster University and other institutions. Unfortunately there is no recording from this session, but there will hopefully be more guidance once the new service is fully operational.

Here are a few key points:

  • Currently sharing large quantities of data outside the University isn’t easy
  • The University doesn’t recommend external ‘cloud’ storage for anything other than information classed as ‘ordinary’. More about cloud storage and information security from ISS.
  • ISS is currently testing a new cloud-based file storage service provided by Box.com. This service will be secure, user-friendly, reliable and facilitate collaboration outside of the University.
  • There is lots of help and support available directly from Box, and ISS will be producing guides too.

For more information about this new service, please get in touch with ISS.
